Over the weekend, Sejati, in collaboration with Pusat Uberisasi Kesihatan Komuniti Hospital Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), organized a medical outreach program in Semporna, Sabah. For many in these communities, healthcare is difficult to access, and this initiative aimed to provide not just medical treatment but also care, dignity, and respect.
Providing Essential Healthcare Services
More than 250 individuals received medical consultations and health screenings, addressing conditions that might otherwise go unnoticed. Many villagers underwent eye screenings and received reading glasses, helping them regain clear vision for daily tasks.
Children were given deworming treatment, and students attended menstrual hygiene sessions, equipping them with the knowledge to take better care of themselves.
One of the most important aspects of this outreach was catch-up vaccinations. Many children had missed crucial immunizations, leaving them vulnerable to preventable diseases. This effort helped close that gap, ensuring better long-term protection for them and their communities.
Expanding Access to Dental and Women’s Health Services
Dental issues often go untreated in remote areas. During the program, our dental team provided tooth extractions and fluoride applications, relieving pain and preventing future complications.
Doctors from UMS also conducted a women’s health talk, offering information and support on issues that are often overlooked. Access to reliable health education is as important as treatment, giving people the tools to make informed decisions about their health.
A Team Effort
This outreach would not have been possible without the dedication of volunteers from Klinik Kesihatan Pulau Bum Bum, Sarawak, and Semenanjung, as well as the dedicated team from UMS who traveled great distances to reach Semporna. Their commitment ensured that everyone who came received the attention and care they needed. We would also like to thank Buwan Dive Resort for supporting accommodation and meals for the volunteers.

Health for All
At Sejati, we believe that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation. This outreach was part of a broader effort to bring essential services to those who need them most.
We look forward to more collaborations and programs that provide practical, meaningful healthcare solutions.
