In conjunction with the Southern Haematology Update 2025, Sejati Initiative had the privilege of hosting a special support event for individuals living with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) and their caregivers. Held at the Hilton Hotel in Johor Bahru, the event welcomed 40 patients and caregivers from across the southern region for a day of knowledge sharing, emotional support, and community building.
This meaningful gathering was made possible with sponsorship from Novartis Malaysia. The program was designed not just to educate, but also to empower patients and caregivers to take small, practical steps towards better living.
The day began with an educational session where patients gained a deeper understanding of MPN and its management. One of the highlights was a practical nutrition talk by clinical dietitian, Puan Suriyanti, who shared easy, accessible ways to “eat better to feel better,” especially for those undergoing long-term treatment. This was followed by an interactive session by registered clinical psychologist, Mr Tan Zong Yan from Labyrinth Psychological Centre, who guided participants through strategies to manage stress and emotions—an often-overlooked aspect of chronic illness.
Sejati Initiative also took the opportunity to raise funds for our Projek Lukis Lukis, a project that brings art and light into the lives of long-staying haematology patients. Sponsors of the painting kits were invited to write a personal note of encouragement, which will be included with each kit to uplift and inspire cancer patients during their hospital stay. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised funds for 62 painting kits, which will soon be distributed to patients in Hospital Melaka and Hospital Sultanah Aminah. In addition, 25 limited edition self-designed tote bags were sold—each bag carrying a message of kindness, and each sale helping us continue our mission.

What made the event even more special was the turnout of Sejati members from across the country, who came together to lend their support. It was a beautiful reminder that we can achieve so much more when united by a shared cause.
To everyone who attended, supported, or contributed in any way — thank you for making this event truly meaningful. We look forward to many more impactful moments together.
