Strategies for Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being

On 22nd November 2024, Sejati Initiative successfully organised its third event in support of individuals living with cancer. The event, titled "Strategies for Managing Worries and Difficult Emotions”, aimed to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of cancer patients and their caregivers.

The day began with personalised mental health screening sessions conducted by clinical psychologists from Labyrinth Psychological Centre. These one-on-one consultations, offered to 13 patients and caregivers, provided a confidential space to address individual concerns. This was followed by an insightful talk by Senior Clinical Psychologist Tan Zong Yan, who shared evidence-based strategies for managing anxiety, stress, and other challenging emotions.

The event saw an encouraging turnout, with over 50 participants actively engaging in the program. Attendees had the opportunity to learn practical tools for mental health maintenance, such as breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation techniques, which can be easily integrated into daily routines. The warm and supportive environment fostered meaningful discussions, leaving participants feeling empowered and better equipped to navigate their emotional challenges.

This initiative underscores Sejati’s commitment to addressing the holistic needs of cancer patients, recognising that mental well-being is just as crucial as physical health in the journey toward recovery and resilience.
